“The purpose of psychotherapy is to set people free.” ~ Rollo May, PhD
Welcome to Wayfinder Psychotherapy!
Life is imperfect, and one of the most challenging parts is accepting that fact. Negative thoughts, emotions, and memories are easily entrenched as guilt, regret, inadequacy, rejection, and ‘analysis paralysis.’ I’m sure you can recall every crossroad in your life and know exactly what you did, didn’t do, and are still afraid to do. It is common to review these thoughts repetitively until we find our mental health in a downward spiral.
I have found in my practice that much of therapy derives from this; STEM professionals and performers/artists particularly find themselves stuck in this way. We may refer to your symptoms as a diagnosis (e.g., depression, anxiety, complicated grief, and occupational stress), though I prefer to focus our time on the root causes that led to your unique spiral.
I bring both an analytical and a developmental perspective to therapy. We will put your negative experiences in context, identify patterns, challenge assumptions, fortify coping skills, and rediscover your sense of self and your values. I trust that when we are done, you’ll no longer feel weighed down by roads not taken, but instead, empowered by the ones you do.
